Questa e' una RARA ES-5, uno dei primi 12 esemplari realizzati che presentano allo stesso tempo caratteristiche della ES-350 P e dei successivi modelli di ES-5. Un'altra di queste rarissime chitarre e' stata nella nostra collezione e puo' essere ammirata su www.realvintage.it in questa pagina. Altri due sono illustrati nel libro di Gruhn & Carter 'Electric Guitars and Basses' e in quello della Chinery Collection, e portano all'interno un'etichetta con la scritta 'ES-350'. Quella che vedete qui e' gia' denominata ES-5, ed e' stata completata nel Luglio 1949, lo stesso mese della presentazione ufficiale del modello alla NAMM convention. Caratterisitche prese dalla ES-350 sono gli intarsi della tastiera a doppi parallelogrammi, la terminazione squadrata della tastiera stessa, le manopole "barrell knobs" trasparenti e prive di numeri, le meccaniche Kluson deluxe (invece delle 'Super' Klusons) che portano ancora la scritta "Pat. Appld". Un'evidente affinita' con le normali ES-5 e' invece la classica configurazione tre pickup / quattro controlli. Si conosce almeno un altro prototipo, realizzato partendo da una L-5 cutaway con top intagliato. E' interessante a tal proposito notare che il primo modello di produzione 'regolare' di L-5 elettrica e' stato prodotto solo nel 1951.

This is a RARE and very early ES-5, one of the first 12 examples of the model mixing features from both ES-350 P and later regular-production ES-5s. We have been lucky enough to have another one of these incredibly rare guitars, you can still see it on our website www.realvintage.it by clicking here. Other two guitars pictured in Gruhn & Carter's 'Electric Guitars and Basses' and Chinery Collection book bear an 'ES-350' label inside. This one is already labeled ES-5, and has been completed in July 1949, the same month of ES-5's official introduction at '49 NAMM convention. ES-350's features include double-parallelogram fretboard inlays, squared fretboard end, 'clear' barrel knobs with no numbers, Kluson deluxe tuners (instead of 'Super' Klusons) with Pat. Appld. A distinctive ES-5 feature is the classic three pickups / four knobs configuration. At least one more prototype of this model has been produced, taking as a starting point the acoustic cutaway carved-top L-5. It's interesting to remember that the first regular-production electric/carved-top L-5 CES was issued only in 1951.
