La versione Natural della L-5 venne introdotta ufficialmente nel catalogo Gibson a partire dal 1939. Questa eccezionale chitarra dalle venature spettacolari e' uno dei primissimi esemplari prodotti, se non il primo in assoluto, con il numero di serie che indica come data di produzione il Dicembre del 1938. La L-5 nella sua versione 'advanced' da 17" torna in questo stesso periodo al parallel-bracing, cioe' all'incatenatura parallela del top. Da notare l'attaccacorde a trapezio in due pezzi con lo snodo a cerniera e le rare meccaniche Grover Imperial della primissima generazione. Tipica del periodo anche la bella custodia rigida originale Geib con copertura striata in tweed. Acero fiammato per manico e fasce, e incredibile acero marezzato con un disegno che ricorda delle bolle d'aria sul fondo.

The Natural version of the L-5 model was officially introduced by Gibson in 1939. This stunning guitar is one of the earliest examples ever built - if not the earliest -  with a late December 1938 serial number and incredibly beautiful woods. In the same period, the 'advanced' 17" L-5 gets back to the old parallel-bracing. Among the typical details of tehse years you'll see the hinged two-piece trapeze tailpiece, the rare early Grover Imperial tuners wiht Patent Applied For, and the gorgeous tweed-covered Geib hardshell case. Flamed maple was used for neck and sides, and an exceptional 'bubble' quilted maple was used for the two-piece back.
